Déjà Vu with the Uma Official Teaser

RBN Web Desk: Back in September 2015, filmmaker Srijit Mukherji forged some goosebump moments, when the video of the song Bharoto Bhagyo Bidhata, brilliantly arranged by Indraadip Dasgupta from the Rajkahini soundtrack, was released. And now, three years down the line, it’s almost a déjà vu moment with the Uma official teaser.

Uma, inspired from the real-life events of seven-year old St George resident Evan Leversage who battled an inoperable brain tumour, tells the story of a terminally ill girl who wants to hold Durga Puja in her house, much ahead of the usual time in September-October.

50 Years of Chowringhee

The Uma official teaser was released yesterday and from the first look it seems the director has hit the bull’s eye once again. The film has already been to film festivals at New York, London, Alberta and Melbourne.

Much like Rajkahini, Uma has an ensemble cast that includes Jisshu Sengupta, Anirban Bhattacharya, Srabanti Chatterjee, Anjan Dutt, Rudranil Ghosh, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Sayantika Banerjee, Babul Supriyo, Gargi Roy Chowdhury, Neel Mukherjee, Abhijit Guha, Partha Sen and others in key roles.

Jisshu’s daughter Sara Sengupta debuts in the title role while he plays her father. Music for the film is composed by Anupam Roy, while Neel Dutt is in charge of the background score.

Evan’s mother Nicole Wellwood is all set to fly down to Kolkata for the film’s premiere.

Uma releases on 1 June.
