Srijit to Make a Sports Biopic?

RBN Web Desk: Director Srijit Mukherji, in all likelihood, is all set to make a sports biopic on former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly. Should that happen, Sourav’s biopic would be the fourth such film on a cricketer to hit the screens.

Earlier in May, it was heard that leading producer Ekta Kapoor would bankroll the film, likely to be based on Sourav’s autobiography, A Century Is Not Enough, which released at the Kolkata International Book Fair this year. Sourav, back then, had insisted on a top Bengali director to helm the project, which is now being believed to be Srijit. A Century Is Not Enough is written by senior sports journalist Gautam Bhattacharya.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of an event in Kolkata recently, Sourav said, Srijit had approached him with the idea of the biopic since the past six months. They have had several rounds of talks in this regard.

However, when asked, Sourav didn’t comment whether he has given the nod to Srijit. The Chotushkone director was present at the event.
