Kolkata: Pink Lips, a newly formed city band comprising Subhalaxmi Dey and Debapriya Mukherjee, held its maiden performance recently at a south Kolkata café. They opened the show with a Rabindra Sangeet and rounded up the evening with a medley of several popular retro Hindi numbers.
Debapriya has been a singer for close to two decades and has lent her voice to several Bengali and Hindi films. She has sung in the title track of a number of TV serials and has performed live in more than 750 shows all over the world. Debapriya has worked with leading singers like Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Jaspinder Narula, and Shaan, and has many music videos to her credit.
Subhalaxmi, on her part, has been a prominent reality show contestant and has performed on stage with singers like Mohammad Aziz, Suresh Wadekar, Jolly Mukherjee, Talat Aziz, and others. She has sung for a number of Bengali films and has since released two albums.
The duo have come together to form Pink Lips.
According to Subhalaxmi, “We will try to create magic with music, which is the motto of our band.”
Debapriya said, “Pink Lips will perform songs of every genre that includes film, non-film, semi-classical, folk, ghazals, and pop. These will be interspread with our original numbers.”
