RBN Web Desk: Barely a few days since it was first aired, new Star Jalsha serial Phagun Bou, has already bagged a top five rank in the Broadcast Audience Research Council India (BARC) numbers for the week 17 to 23 March. Phagun Bou debuted on the television rating point (TRP) list at number five.
The top spot, however, went to Zee Bangla’s Saat Bhai Champa. Seemarekha, Bhojo Gobindo, and Kusum Dola, bagged the second, third, and fourth spots respectively.
According to sources, the makers of Phagun Bou were apprehensive whether a serial with Vikram Chatterjee in the lead, would be accepted by the audience. But now that the serial has earned a top rank, have allayed their fears, sources added.
Oindrila Sen plays the female lead in the serial. Laboni Sarkar and Koushik Roy have been cast in major roles.
Vikram had played the lead in Star Jalsha’s hugely popular serial Ichchenodi. The character he played in the serial was discontinued after Vikram got involved in the Sonika Chauhan death case in April 2017. The serial was finally pulled off air in May.
Vikram played a major role in director’s Arka Ganguly’s crime-thriller film Khoj last year. The film released in June and was received poorly at the box office but won critical acclaim.
General entertainment channel Colors Bangla failed to make the top five cut in the week under review.
