Kolkata: In what will undeniably come as a shot in the arm for independent and new filmmakers, Ranadeep Sarker’s film Nupur, has entered the fifth straight week, taking competition head on from all the big budget releases this week.
Several leading directors like Srijit Mukherji, Arindam Sil, Aniket Chattopadhyay, and Anindya Chatterjee had their new films released this week.
Nupur, Ranadeep’s second film, released on 21 September.
Made on a shoestring budget, Nupur is inspired from 12th century poet Jayadeva’s epochal love treatise Geeta Govinda. It has Suvojit Kar, Tanusree, Devika Mukherjee and Biswajit Chakraborty in lead roles. The film is set in the hinterland of Purulia.
