RBN Web Desk: Remakes of southern blockbusters is fairly common in the Bengali film industry. But in a rare move, a Hindi remake of a popular Bengali TV serial is all set to be telecast on the small screen.
Star Bharat, the second general entertainment channel (GEC) of Star India has announced a new fiction show titled Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki, which will go on air from 1 January. The show is a remake of Star Jalsha’s popular Bengali TV serial Bhojo Gobindo. The Hindi version will be directed by Snehashish Chakraborty.
Bhojo Gobindo was the sixth most popular fictions show, according to the television rating point (TRP) data released by the Broadcast Audience Research Council India, for the week 22-29 December.
Veteran actor Dipankar De plays a major role in Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki.
Vishal Vashishtha has been cast in the title role of Kanhaiya, a cook-cum-domestic help who is hired by the Chowdhury family to end its woes. Besides cooking delicious meals, Kanhaiya injects fun and joy in everybody’s life, and tries to resolve the bickering among the family members.
Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki will mark the Hindi television debut of Bengali actress Shweta Bhattacharya as the female lead. The serial will also feature Rupanjana Mitra in the role of a housemaid.
Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki will be telecast from Monday to Saturday at 9.30pm.
