RBN Web Desk: Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, who recently exchanged wedding vows with Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, has another reason to end the year on a happy note. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PeTA) named Anushka as Person of the Year, for her far-reaching work to protect animal rights.
The 29-year old actress is a strict vegetarian and bagged the title for her efforts to protect street dogs from fireworks and highlighting the poor condition of horses that are forced to pull carriages on Mumbai roads.
Associate director of PeTA, Sachin Bangera, said that the actress is a proud advocate for animal rights whose kindness has no bounds. He called everyone to follow her lead and eat plant-based meals and help animals in every way possible.
Anushka Sharma is an active animal rights campaigner. She recently launched a cruelty-free clothing line Nush, and is a frequent visitor to an animal shelter in Mumbai. Anushka has also launched PAWsitive, a campaign to raise awareness about the suffering caused to animals because of fireworks.
