RBN Web Desk: Some films have roles written with a particular actor in mind. Filmmaker Satyajit Ray did that several times in his career, most famously in Nayak (1966), which had Bengali matinee idol Uttam Kumar in the lead. In the latest example, director Aniket Chattopadhyay has done likewise for his upcoming film Shankar Mudi, which has Kaushik Ganguly in the title role.
The Shankar Mudi official trailer was released recently on the internet and Kaushik has fit the role to a T. The actor-director looks every bit convincing as the typical neighbourhood grocer.
According to industry sources, the film revolves around a locality in suburban Kolkata, and how the lives of the people living there change when a mall comes up.
Shankar Mudi has an ensemble cast that includes Soumitra Chatterjee, Shantilal Mukherjee, Saswata Chatterjee, Kanchan Mullick, Biswanath Basu, Jisshu Sengupta and others.
Anjan Dutt has been cast in the role of a school teacher in the film.
Shankar Mudi is slated to release soon.
