RBN Web Desk: National award winning filmmaker Goutam Ghose is all set to play a newspaper editor in Pratim D Gupta’s new film Ink. The film has Paoli Dam and Ritwick Chakraborty in the lead.
The Paar director had earlier played a print media reporter in Buddhadev Dasgupta’s 1982 film Grihajuddha, which was his last major role, before making a comeback of sorts in Srijit Mukherji’s 2011 psychological thriller Baishe Srabon.
According to industry sources, Pratim, himself a scribe of a leading English daily, has started shooting for his new project, having completed his upcoming film Ahare Mon.
Paoli has been cast as a superstar while Ritwick will play a reporter in the investigative thriller. This will be Paoli’s fourth project with Pratim, having appeared earlier in Maacher Jhol (2017), Ahare Mon, and the recent television film Mirch Malini.
Goutam is increasingly being seen in front of the camera these days, having played prominent roles in Ekla Akash (2012) and Chotushkone (2014). He also appeared in acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s latest film Beyond the Clouds. That aside, Goutam is playing the last scion of a zamindar family in debutant director Dhrubo Banerjee’s adventure heist film Guptodhoner Sondhane, which is in the third week of its release.
Ink has Chitrangada Chakraborty, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Shankar Chakraborty, and Swaroopa Ghosh in other roles. The film is Ritwick’s third collaboration with Pratim, after Shaheb Bibi Golaam (2016), Maacher Jhol, and Ahare Mon.
Ink is slated to release later this year.
