Kolkata: Hoichoi, the on-demand digital entertainment platform of SVF, has announced major expansion plans for the next year. These include 30 new shows and 12 original films aggregating to more than 100 hours of original content.
Revealing the company’s plans yesterday, Hoichoi cofounder Vishnu Mohta said, “Content from our online platform has been downloaded more than one million times with a total streaming duration of over 240 million minutes.” He claimed that each user spends 60 minutes each day on Hoichoi which is higher than the industry average.
The new shows to be introduced in the days ahead include Charitraheen, 5 Phoron, Bidyut, Dupur Thakurpo 2: Part II, Spiti Valley, Nisachor, Nikhoj, Bong Jononi, Eken Babu Season 2: E Kon Eken?, Hello: Season 2, Dhanbad Blues, Murder by the Lake, and several others. The shows will cover all genres of entertainment like thrillers, dark comedy, psychological horror, travel, mystery, romance, fantasy, and romantic comedies.
The company is also branching out to Bangladesh and Middle East, and with that in mind, will launch a new original show titled Dhaka Metro. It will be directed by Amitabh Reza Chaudhuri.
With an aim to get more subscribers on board, some selected original shows will be dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Arabic.
Hoichoi cofounder Mahendra Soni said, “Almost 40 percent of our audience is from the semi-urban areas and we will launch a topup card to reach masses in the tier-II and tier-III cities.”
That aside, films produced by SVF would now be made available on Hoichoi soon after their theatrical release where viewers will get the option to pay and watch them on an a-la-carte basis.
