Hyderabad: A T10 international cricket league was recently launched in the city by Nowhera Shaikh, the CEO and managing director of Heera Group. The multinational conglomerate is the main sponsor of the tournament.
The league will be held in Sharjah from 14 to 17 December is a 90-minute format of 10 overs each side.
Speaking at the event, NRI businessman Sohan Roy, who leads the Indywood group, said that he wants to show cricket matches in cinema halls and the T10 format is ideal in this regard. The Sports entertainment industry, Roy said, is growing and he wants to brand Hyderabad as its hub in India. “It will generate more revenue for the state and job opportunities for young people,” he added.
Roy said he is proud to have Heera Group as the league’s title sponsor.
Several top former cricketers like Shahid Afridi, Virender Sehwag, Kumar Sangakkara, and Eoin Morgan are slated to feature in the league. The teams have been named as Maratha Arabians, Bengal Tigers, Kerala Kings, Punjabi Legends, and Team Sri Lankan.
