RBN Web Desk: Film and television producer Ekta Kapoor has bagged the rights to produce a biopic on Verghese Kurien. Shree Narayan Singh has been roped in to direct the film. Kurien is popularly known as the ‘Milkman of India’, and according to sources, the film is likely to have the same title.
The biopic will be adapted from Kurien’s autobiography I Too Had a Dream.
A social entrepreneur, Kurien founded Operation Flood, the largest agriculture dairy development programme in the world in 1966. The project transformed dairy farming in India to a self-sustaining industry and made the country the world’s largest milk producer.
The film will highlight Kurien’s work as a philanthropist and a visionary businessperson.
Singh had earlier directed Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai (2012), and Toilet—Ek Prem Katha (2017). His upcoming film Batti Gul Meter Chalu, with Shahid Kapoor and Yami Gautam in the lead, will release later this year.
