RBN Web Desk: Contrary to reports appearing in media that the hugely popular Hindi TV serial CID is all set to end after two decades of an uninterrupted run, sources close to the channel have claimed that the show will take a seasonal break and not end as being speculated.
However, according to the sources, the budget of the CID TV series has been cut down drastically, and when the show returns in about two or three months time, it is likely to have a new format. That aside, some of the popular actors appearing in the show, are unlikely to return. While nothing has been finalised yet, the channel is reportedly contemplating on these lines, sources said.
The show has Shivaji Satam (ACP Pradyuman), Dayanand Shetty (senior inspector Daya), and Aditya Srivastava (senior inspector Abhijeet) as the main cast, with Dinesh Phadnis (inspector Fredricks), Shraddha Musale, Narendra Gupta (Dr Salunke), Ajay Nagrath, and Ansha Sayed in major roles, along with several others appearing as recurring actors in various episodes.
The CID TV series is a fictional crime show that consists mostly of criminal cases handled by top police officers. Over the years, the characters like Pradyuman, Daya, and Abhijeet have become household names in India.
The first episode of the series was broadcast on 21 January 1998, in the early days of 24×7 satellite television in India. As on 20 October 2018, 1545 episodes have been telecast.
The serial will go off air from 28 October.
