According to the director duo, Maati is about the violence, tragedy and the pain of Partition. The film depicts border infringement, refugee crisis, separation of families, and the failure to return home, following the single largest planned displacement of population ever in world history. Their film, Leena and Saibal said, talks about the scars of Partition that have failed to heal even after seven decades of the incident.
The Maati official trailer was released online earlier today.
Music for the film is composed by Debojyoti Mishra.
