The legendary Soumitra Chatterjee and actor-director Aparna Sen will share screen space together for the first time in 17 years in this Suman Ghosh film. They were last seen together in Paromitar Ek Din (2000), directed by Sen. The cast also includes Rituparna Sengupta, Saswata Chatterjee, Sreenanda Sen, Jisshu Sengupta, and Kaushik Sen. In the film, members of the Basu family come together to celebrate Soumitra and Aparna’s 50th marriage anniversary, when all the drama unfolds. The film is expected to hit theatres in June.

8. Bhabishyater Bhoot

The sequel to Bhooter Bhabishyat (2012), one of the most successful Bengali films of the decade, this one has a new set of ghosts who were cast-off before they died and remained unwanted even in their afterlife. They live together in an abandoned theatre name Batil Ghar. The story is about their hunt for a virtual space to live. The film, like the first part, will have an ensemble cast that includes Kaushik Sen, Swastika Mukherjee, Moon Moon Sen, Chandreyee Ghosh, and others. Bhabishyater Bhoot, directed by Anik Ghosh is likely to release in the second half of the year. It’s one of the most highly awaited Bengali films of 2018.

9. Jonaki

His 2014 film Asha Jaoar Majhe won rave reviews from critics from all over the world. Now, director Aditya Vikram Sengupta is ready to release his second film Jonaki, in November. Veteran actress Lolita Chatterjee plays the title role in the film which also has Burjor Patel, Ratnaboli Bhattacharya, and Indrajeet Sinha in the cast. Asha Jaoar Majhe won several awards in major international film festivals, and to the content-driven audience, Jonaki is one of the must-see Bengeli films of 2018. The film is about an 80-year old woman who hunts for love in a strange and decaying world of memories, when her former lover, now grey and old, returns to the world she is about to leave.
