6. Narak Guljar

Tapen Chatterjee

An adaptation of playwright and thespian Manoj Mitra’s cult political drama, Narak Guljar released in 2009. Tapen Chatterjee was already battling failing health when the film was being made.  Besides Tapen, the film had veteran actors like Chinmoy Roy, Bimal Deb, and Anup Kumar in lead roles. Directed by Nitish Mukherjee, the film bombed badly at the box office, despite having a world premiere at Chicago. This was probably the actor’s last film to release.
